Winsparks
Over a hundred students from the winchester school were notified about a new and innovative upcoming event ,an event in which selected students showcased their projects from recycled guitars to student art showcases , October 20th, to take part in a groundbreaking new event. “Winsparks” in collaboration with S.T.E.A.M (science, technology, engineering, and math)
Working models were in every stall .with students over brimming with unique ideas and Gadgets to showcase their models at a chance to make their innovative ideas a dream come true.
Layal and Mariam were the featured speakers, inspiring students to find a field they were passionate about and make their chosen project/team building more than just a job. Ritik shared the joy he feels when he meets the unspoken needs of his clients after going the extra mile to discover what metals can be turned into copper , and Simarjeet encouraged the attendees to rate his candle powered bulb for further improvements.
Models were judged on the : Integration with STEAM , Usefulness , Innovation , Creativity , Sustainability / ecofriendly compatibility . “Overall i felt good that this event showcased many talents of students and their abilities in the field of innovation and STEAM integration”- Calvin

Multimedia leaders-creating awareness on use of social media and cyber-safety within the classrooms
World teacher’s Day (October 5, 2016)
As for the day’s activity, a support class was conducted and lead by several Year 12 students in teaching the basic skills on data analysis (spreadsheet) to LSA (learning support assistant team) under the guidance of Ms Shirin. The purpose behind the planned weekly lesson is to provide extra support to the teaching assistants, who accompany Year 10 and 11 students in preparation for the upcoming IGCSE examinations (May-June 2017/18). A one-on-one interaction was held between a student and a teacher, and at the same time, they were taught on how to access the new system of MyLearning, which has been recently introduced by the school to provide easy and quick access to resources,source files or past papers. Flip Classroom
A flip lesson was also conducted by Year 12 boys: Faraz and Yash on the topic- Control and Monitoring Technology. The students led lesson attempedt to do collaborative learning and to engage with fellow classmates and to provide enthusiastic learning. Using the website, Nearpod, the lesson began with starter questions on the daily uses of sensors and the use of sensors in the Dubai airport. It was indeed a very interactive lesson.Students enjoyed and appreciated it.The lesson continued with Faraz and Yash discussing more about the uses of sensors particularly in the industry, workplace monitoring (hospitals) etc. It’s been explained in detail on how sensors are used for overnight maintenance and temperature balance is used in factories, while effective healthcare is considered in hospitals. Patient diagnostics and patient monitoring were explained side by side and were excellently put forward to students.
Wincares Week-Supporting KS3-led by Ms Sarika
The Winchester schools initiative to make students aware of the various drawbacks and benefits of social media were presented in the year 8 girls classrooms and it was a very socializing experience. The girls were very co-operative and collaborative. We also talked about the various ways to be internet safe and how to acknowledge a friend from a hacker- and interactive and it was an enlightening experience overall.
